Omschrijving
Picture a park in a residential neighbourhood in Turkey. A little family of dogs lived there — warm, open, and loving people with their whole hearts. But that same friendliness made them vulnerable. Too approachable, too trusting, they drew complaints from locals and the threat of animal control. Government shelters in Turkey are no place for dogs like these. In June 2025, the whole family was brought to safety at a dog sanctuary. And now Ginny has made her way to the Netherlands, ready to experience the world — and she is taking it all in with wide, curious eyes.
Ginny is around one year old, black, and beautifully built — bigger than her mother, with the unmistakable enthusiasm of someone who has just discovered that life is wonderful. She was already spayed, (stitches still on) when found and brought to safety. However, the vet confirmed that she is currently going through a heat cycle which means the previous surgery was unsuccessful and there remains part of her reproductive organs. As she can't be neutered at this time during her heat, she will need to be neutered by her forever family after adoption.
Ginny is absolutely crazy about people. The moment she sees a hand — any hand, even reaching for another dog — she drops to the floor, rolls onto her back, and presents her belly with zero shame. She is playful, silly, and has the most irresistible puppy energy packed into a big, glossy black body. She loves toys, loves other dogs to romp with, and loves her people with everything she has.
She is also, it must be said, a little bit of a thief. Ginny has a habit of collecting things — socks, slippers, whatever she can get her paws on — and bringing them triumphantly to her bed. She will nibble on them contentedly, looking very pleased with herself. She is not destructive, just playful and curious and very much still a puppy in a grown dog's body.
Indoors she is lively and social. She tries to engage her foster brother Roman in play, and when he's not in the mood she moves cheerfully on — grabbing a toy, demanding pets, following her humans from room to room before eventually settling down nearby. She is comfortable in the car, has already handled public transport and a café visit beautifully, and settles quickly in new environments once her curiosity is satisfied. She hasn't yet been left alone for long stretches, so building that up gradually will be part of the journey.
Outside, Ginny is a joy to walk — no pulling, though she does zigzag with enthusiasm as she takes everything in. Loud vehicles can startle her. She is curious about every person, every dog, every duck she passes — especially the ducks, which she would very much like to chase. Think of her as a puppy experiencing the world for the very first time, because in many ways, she is.
She has clear Labrador in her (her mom Hermione who is also available for adoption looks like a Labrador indeed)— she loves the water and is highly food motivated, making her a fast and eager learner at exactly the right age to train.
Ginny is looking for an active family ready to raise and train an older puppy — someone who will laugh at the stolen slippers, enjoy the belly rub demands, and give this joyful, affectionate girl the adventure-filled life she deserves.

Toelichting
Ginny was rescued from streets in Turkey in June 2025. She travelled to the Netherlands after completing a 4 months of procedure - EU rules. Her vaccinations are done and she has a valid passport and travel titration test. We ask for an adoption contribution of 500 euros to help us continue the work in rescueing and rehabilitating more dogs and cats in Turkey although the actual costs of procedures to rehome dogs from Turkey are higher. Stichting Verhuisdieren is aware of these higher adoption costs and has given permission due to high costs for Turkish animals.
