Peppermint

Peppermint is a beautiful tortoise - like a lady covered in jewels, with diamonds on her paws. And as far as tortie cats go, she is a real princess with her unique pattern :) She will be a wonderful pet friend to a person or a family who understand her journey and give her love and gentle attention so she can show her huge loving heart and grateful personality.

She is quite a loving kitten as you can see in the video below. She enjoys petting and cuddles while giving content purrs, but is not pressing for attention – she really appreciates it when you give it to her, and also indicates when she thinks it’s petting time.

Peppermint has a balanced personality and is not a high energy kitten – she enjoys playing with toys but once she had enough play, she leaves, lays down and sleeps. She likes her space and respects yours, so it’s easy to know when to let her be. As a curious kitten, she likes to observe what’s going on from her cat tree where she takes the higher spots, and it’s the place where she lets you pet her for as long as possible.

Born as a stray kitten in the streets in Bulgaria, she had to fight for survival when she was found by our volunteers at about 6 weeks of age. She was placed in a vet-managed shelter, where she was given proper medical care, nutrition and initial socialization. There she met Peacock who became her protector and friend – he grooms her and is her best playmate. Now they are inseparable.

Due to the early life in the street, she is initially shy and may need some patience and love to relax, build trust and show confidence in new situations.

Since January 2025, Peppermint has been living in a foster home in the Netherlands and has built confidence to be with new people and other cats, learned home life and the enjoyment of being petted and cuddled. She is more of a house cat but will be happy at the opportunity to get fresh air on a secured balcony or outdoor space. She has been living with other cats in foster care and gets along with them without any issues.

She is a good fit for children over 12 years of age as she can be scared by sudden movements and sounds, especially during the adaptation period.

Peppermint is neutered, with all current vaccinations, has a chip and an international passport.
