Boris

Boris is a truly special dog — loyal, eager to please, and deeply devoted to his people. He wants nothing more than to do the right thing and make his owner proud. He bonds strongly, and thrives on clear guidance, calm leadership, and a predictable routine.

Boris was found as a lonely puppy in a metro station near a university campus in Ankara, Turkey, during a snowstorm — completely soaked and shivering. A kind volunteer couldn’t leave him there, knowing that larger stray dogs wouldn’t let him survive, and took him to safety. Once vaccinated, Boris moved to a dog sanctuary, where he lived for several years before traveling to the Netherlands early this year. He quickly found a home, but sadly, his family now needs to rehome him.

Inside the home, Boris can find it stressful when there are several people or unfamiliar visitors around. In those moments, he becomes tense and alert — and if people try to interact with him while he’s in that heightened state, he may snap out of fear. For this reason, he’s looking for a calm, structured home with experienced owners who understand his boundaries and can help him feel safe.

Outside the house, Boris shows his best side: he’s relaxed, joyful, and full of life. He walks beautifully on a leash, listens attentively, and his recall off leash is excellent. He loves to run and play with other dogs, though he can sometimes find big male dogs intimidating. With calm, confident guidance, it usually goes very well.

Boris can be startled by loud noises or sudden movements, and he tends to bond faster with women — though he can absolutely warm up to men with patience and trust.

He also has a protective side — alerting when someone approaches the property or when delivery vans pass by. It’s part of his loyal nature: he feels responsible for his people and his home.

When he’s out and about, though, he’s a completely different dog — content, social, and at ease. He loves terraces, calmly lies beside his person, and can travel well by metro or train. He even enjoys running alongside a bicycle.

Boris would flourish in a calm, structured home. He needs people who can give him consistency, clarity, and gentle reassurance.

A home with a garden or access to open space would be perfect, as he loves being outdoors and running freely.

With the right person, Boris will give his whole heart. Once he feels safe and understood, he becomes a deeply loyal, affectionate, and devoted companion — the kind of dog who will stay by your side through everything.
