Boris

Boris is looking for a foster home March onwards. He is already in the Netherlands.

Boris is a 5,5-year-old, large (30 kg) castrated male with a story that quietly tugs at your heart. As a tiny puppy (see last photo 😍), he was found alone during a snowstorm, surrounded by bigger, older dogs, and taken to safety. He spent his early years in a dog sanctuary in Turkey, patiently waiting for his chance.

Boris is a dream housemate. He is fully house trained, can stay home alone without any problems. He understands that indoors is for calm, cozy downtime. While he’s currently not allowed on the couch, the moment cuddles are offered he comes running with pure enthusiasm. If invited, he would happily be your TV-time cuddle buddy, choosing to lie close and soak up the warmth of his humans.

He is watchful and will bark when someone passes the garden gate or the doorbell rings—just enough to let you know he’s there, nothing excessive.

Boris absolutely adores people and thrives on affection, pets, and gentle attention—especially from women. He can be a little wary of tall adult men when they’re alone, but relaxes much more when a woman is present. Once he feels safe with his owners regardless of whether they are woman or man, his loving nature truly shines.

Boris does best in a quiet household with few people. A busy home with many guests or loud children can overwhelm him. He needs adopters who understand his signals and will provide him with a peaceful retreat where he can relax when things get busy—especially to protect him from people who might pet him too forcefully or without reading his comfort level.

Outside, Boris is confident, joyful, and a pleasure to be with. He walks beautifully on leash and is also very reliable off-leash. He loves adventures in nature—forest walks and beach days are absolute favorites. With other dogs he is playful and polite, particularly fond of female dogs. Around large male dogs he may be a bit cautious, but he remains calm and respectful.

Important note: Boris also has an active adoption profile. His current family is based in Bergen, and we are not sure for how long they are willing to keep him while we are continue searching for his forever home.
