Hermione

Picture a park in a residential neighbourhood in Turkey. Amidst the hustle of everyday life, a little family of dogs lived — named after characters from Harry Potter. Mother Hermione raised her five pups with a devotion that moved everyone who saw her. She would always wait for her puppies to finish eating before she took a single bite herself. She played with them, comforted them, and was their very best friend.
But their friendliness was also their greatest vulnerability. This family loved people so openly — greeting every passerby like a long-lost friend — that complaints started coming in from locals. Government shelters in Turkey are just terrible in every possible way.
In June 2025, Hermione and her family were brought to safety at a dog sanctuary. Now she has arrived in the Netherlands — together with two of her daughters (in separate foster homes). Her second chance at life has begun.

🐾 Who is Hermione?
Hermione is a Labrador mix, estimated to be around 3 to 4 years old. She comes with the full Labrador package: highly food motivated and a remarkably fast learner. She is gentle, warm, and has a way of melting into you the moment you give her a belly rub — she will quite literally fall asleep in your hands.
She adores people and is never shy about asking for attention. Stop petting her and she will place her head in your lap to remind you that you weren't quite done yet. Evenings on the sofa? Hermione is there. Netflix night? Hermione too. She is the kind of dog who simply wants to be wherever you are.

🏡 How is she at home?
Hermione is living in a real home for the very first time — and you would hardly know it. She is fully house trained: not a single accident, not even on her very first day in the Netherlands after a long, stressful flight with sedation. Indoors she is calm and settled, perfectly happy to curl up next to her people.
In the garden she is in her element: rolling in the grass on sunny days, snoozing contentedly in the open air. Small joys for a dog who is finally getting to experience the good side of life.

🦮 Outside and around other dogs
Hermione walks beautifully on the leash — no pulling, just a pleasant stroll. She is calm in traffic, relaxed around strangers, and composed around other dogs. She is still warming up and hasn't yet shown her playful side outdoors, but she simply needs a little time and trust to fully open up.
Cats and birds do catch her eye and she has shown interest in chasing them. Whether that is playful curiosity or something more, we can't say for certain yet. A home without cats would be preferable for now.

Hermione has spent her whole life taking care of others. Now it is time for someone to take care of her. Will you be the one to give her the soft sofa, the warm lap, and the safe home she has always deserved?
