Omschrijving
Meet Nicole - a sweet, cuddly beauty who loves attention and will gladly show her tummy for belly rubs. She is very elegant and is on the smaller side as a cat, approx. 3.7 kg. Nicole loves attention, to be pet and to be cuddled, and shows that with a loud purr. She waits for you to come into the room to rub your legs or to get comfortable into your lap; she does it in a sweet, gentle way, and is not demanding at all. Play is always with soft paws. This small purring kitty is social with both people and other pets, both cats and dogs, but will be happy on her own too, as long as she gets your attention.
We are looking for a foster home in the Netherlands to help transition her from Bulgaria to a forever family in the Netherlands. Fostering to adoption is also possible.
Nicole was born and lived as a house cat in a small town in northern Bulgaria. A year ago, she was in a car accident with significant impact on her spine and pelvic area. She was abandoned after the injury; our volunteers found her two weeks later, suffering and emaciated, with little hope of surviving. But Nicole proved to be a real fighter and after months in specialized vet care, she has remarkable recovery. The vets call her "the little miracle" as she is back to a normal condition, does not need assistance with daily life, and most of all, kept her sweet personality and love of being with people.
The injury caused permanent damage to some tail nerves and as a result, she cannot lift the tail but can move it from side to side. This does not present any mobility or balance issues - Nicole walks and runs normally, and she can easily jump on a table or reach a chest of drawers.
As she had some temporary damage to the nerves in the pelvic area, she sometimes has light incontinence, which means a few drops of urine (2-3 drops once or twice a week) on her blanket only during sleep. This is diminishing and will disappear as she is expected to make full recovery to these nerve endings. We share it for awareness that it's part of her recovery, not a behavior issue, as Nicole uses her litter box regularly without any other accidents.
Nicole's ideal home is a place where she can get the love and the attention she enjoys, and care for her health in view of her past injury. She needs to live in a safe space without access to outdoors due to her tail injury, so indoor only or a balcony, patio or terrace secured with cat net are most suitable for her.
Nicole is neutered, has a chip, an international passport and all required vaccinations, and is ready for travel. Her medical records are available and will accompany her.
We are open to discuss the arrangements with the potential foster or adoption parent(s) and to provide support if needed.
