Omschrijving
Dobby’s story begins in a quiet neighborhood park in Turkey, where he grew up as part of a small, close-knit family. They were surrounded by kind people who cared for them — but their trusting, friendly nature also made them vulnerable. In June 2025, the whole family was brought to safety at a sanctuary, and not long after, Dobby — the only boy in the litter — made his way to the Netherlands. Now, he’s ready for the next chapter of his life.
At around one year old, Dobby is still growing into himself — and into the world. He is a gentle, sensitive boy who takes a little time to adjust to new people, environments, and dogs. Slow, calm introductions are key for him. But once he feels safe, he shows his true self: loyal, affectionate, and deeply connected to his humans.
At home, Dobby is an absolute dream. Despite the huge transition to a new country and life, he has been perfectly potty trained from day one — not a single accident. He settles easily, happily curling up next to his foster parents on the couch or even on the bed, soaking in the comfort and closeness he clearly loves.
He finds a lot of comfort in chewing his toys — something completely new to him. He is also just beginning to discover how to play with people. Games like fetch or tug-of-war are new concepts, but he’s slowly and sweetly figuring them out.
Dobby is very food motivated and eager to learn. He responds beautifully to positive reinforcement and is at a perfect age for training: focused, attentive, and genuinely wanting to please.
His leash walking has already improved a lot — he now walks much more in a straight line rather than zigzagging everywhere. He may still pull a bit if something startles him, but he is clearly trying and making progress every day.
Like many former street dogs, Dobby tends to feel more comfortable with women at first. With men, he may need a little extra time and patience — but he absolutely can and does build those bonds.
Dobby can be adopted together with one of his sisters (Myrtle, Hedwig and Ginny - also on this website) or alone.
With gentle guidance, patience, and love, Dobby is going to make an incredible companion — loyal, affectionate, and deeply devoted.

Toelichting
Dobby was rescued from streets in Turkey June 2025. He completed 4 months of procedures and flew to the Netherlands in March 2026. His vaccinations are done and he has a valid passport and travel titration test. We ask for an adoption contribution of 500 euros to help us continue the work in rescueing and rehabilitating more dogs and cats in Turkey although the actual costs of procedures to rehome dogs from Turkey are higher. Stichting Verhuisdieren is aware of these higher adoption costs and has given permission due to high costs for Turkish animals.
