Omschrijving

Hedwig’s story begins in a quiet neighborhood park in Turkey, where she grew up as part of a small, close-knit family. They were surrounded by kind people who cared for them — but their trusting, friendly nature also made them vulnerable. In June 2025, the whole family was brought to safety at a sanctuary. Now the whole family including Hedwig is in the Netherlands waiting their magical next chapter.

At just one year old, Hedwig is still very much a puppy — just in a taller, slightly clumsier, extra-huggable body. With her elegant, long legs and soft white coat splashed with hints of black brindle, she carries the noble look of an Anatolian Shepherd, despite her mom Hermione being a black labrador lookalike (who has already found her happy ending in the Netherlands).

Hedwig is the kind of dog who believes personal space is a myth. If you’re in the room, she’s in the room. If you move, she follows. If you sit, she appears — gently pawing you for pets like it’s her full-time job (which, to be fair, she takes very seriously). She is incredibly affectionate, endlessly loving, and fully committed to being your soft, slightly oversized shadow.

She’s playful, curious, and always ready for fun — whether it’s a game, a chew bone, or a puzzle toy that lets her use that clever little brain. But she also knows how to settle down after a good walk, happily snoozing and recharging for her next burst of joy (usually when you come home, which she celebrates like you’ve been gone for a decade).

On walks, she’s generally a good girl — with occasional excitement-fueled zigzags and a bit of pulling when the world gets too interesting. Other dogs? Potential friends. Birds and cats? Definitely worth a chase (in her opinion), though she redirects easily.

Hedwig can be a bit mischievous when left alone so she is unders crate training at this time. Although she doesn’t have separation anxiety she can get into things, so you may want to puppy proof your home. She’s not a big barker, though she might voice her opinion briefly if you leave or if something unusual catches her attention. She’s also fully on her way with house training — any little accidents have mostly been the result of humans being just a tiny bit late for her bathroom schedule (she would like that officially noted).

Food, however, is her greatest love language. Hedwig is very food motivated — which makes training both effective and… occasionally negotiable if those big brown puppy eyes get involved. She is a clever girl who learns quickly, but she will absolutely test the boundaries if given the chance (especially if snacks are involved).

She’s wonderful with people — friendly, affectionate, and always ready to collect pets from anyone willing to offer them. In fact, she would probably thrive in a home where cuddles are abundant and attention is freely given.

Hedwig’s ideal family will be patient, loving, and have a sense of humor. She’s still learning, still growing, and still occasionally making mischievous life choices — but always with the purest intentions and the softest heart.

She can be adopted on her own, ready to shine as the star of the show — or together with her brother Dobby, her former kennel mate and partner in crime, for a ready-made duo of love and chaos.

Toelichting

Hedwig was rescued from streets in Turkey June 2025. She completed 4 months of procedures and flew to the Netherlands in March 2026. Her vaccinations are done and she has a valid passport and travel titration test. We ask for an adoption contribution of 500 euros to help us continue the work in rescueing and rehabilitating more dogs and cats in Turkey although the actual costs of procedures to rehome dogs from Turkey are higher. Stichting Verhuisdieren is aware of these higher adoption costs and has given permission due to high costs for Turkish animals.
