Omschrijving
Lumos is looking for a foster home to be able to start searching for her forever home in the Netherlands! She is ready to fly anytime and she can't wait to be the center of attention!
Lumos was a stray dog in Turkey. Living rather happily with her dog and cat friends and taken care of by nice people in her neighborhood. Unfortunately with the new law that is introduced in Turkey last year, Lumos has been captured and sent to a government shelter where the conditions are awful and the authorities are given permission to kill the dogs anyway they see fit. The nice people in the neighborhood couldn't let that happen and took her out of the shelter.
Since then she has been living in a dog sanctuary, where she is safe but provided with the basic minimum: couple of times a day she is allowed on the garden to play and go potty then return to her kennel where she spends the rest of her day. It is nothing like living on the streets or having a home where a dog can interact with people and other animals, have fresh air and enjoy life. It is becoming boring for Lumos.
Lumos has never been enthusiastic about food but she refused to eat in the shelter causing her to loose so much weight that she was only skin and bones when she was taken out. She is not putting on weight as much/fast as we want but she is very slowly gaining weight back. We believe with a good routine and better quality food, as well as with more exercise she will get back to her ideal weight.
Lumos loves people.. she jumps at the gates of the dog sanctuary whenever someone approaches to greet them with lots of tail wagging and if you offer your hand or face with some licky kisses..
Lumos is good with other dogs and while she was living as a stray dog she would snuggle up with cats. She is good on the leash in terms of responding well to the leash tension and not pulling although she will need more training to walk in a straight line instead of zigzagging.
She is fully potty trained and she can stay alone for a couple of hours. However leaving her for long hours especially when the weather is good may not be the best course of action as she is getting bored and wants to be out in the fresh weather and sunbathe.
If you can offer Lumos a temporary place for a minimum of 3 months, she will return the love with enjoying the life as a dog should.
