Frenkie

Frenkie is, quite simply, a love-bug. For years, he has been our shadow and a source of joy.
He doesn't just wait for pets - he’ll gently tap your arm with his paw to ask for more. He is a world-class cuddler who thrives on being near his people. Surprisingly, despite his anxieties, he is usually very affectionate with guests in the home as long as they are familiar faces (introductions should be managed slowly, as he’s hesitant with strangers). He loves to welcome friends and soak up the attention. He is intelligent and "speaks" English currently so if you are a Dutch speaking home you will likely have to retrain his command words. He listens well to commands…as long as you have a treat!

The commands he knows: sit, stay, drop it, lay down, leave it, off, no, paw (he actually does know this one in dutch because the barista at our local coffee shop will only give him a treat if he does the command with a dutch “Pootje”), let’s go, come, and also if you hold your hands together and make a circle he will know to put his little snout through it. He does know some of these in sign language as well.

Frenkie is a sensitive soul who experiences the world more intensely than other dogs. Since our baby arrived, it’s become clear that a bustling household is too much for his nervous system.

His Language: When the world gets too loud or scary (like encountering other dogs or people (specifically in workwear is a trigger), he communicates his stress through barking. If he feels truly cornered or pushed past his limit, he may give an warning bite (non-skin-breaking) to signal he needs space.

The Ideal Owner: We are looking for someone who has "dog-sense", i.e. the ability to see when he’s getting overwhelmed and step in as his protector. Because of his triggers, a home with no children and no other pets is where he will truly shine, although a home with a teenager would also be a good potential fit.

We aren't just looking for someone to take Frenkie - we are looking for his new favorite people. We would love to remain a part of his life and offer free boarding whenever you go on holiday. He gets to stay with the family he loves, and you get peace of mind (and a free pet-sitter!).

Frenkie has so much love to give that it practically spills over. We are heartbroken to move him, but we know he’ll be much happier in a home where he doesn't have to worry about a baby’s unpredictability.
