Omschrijving
Myrtle is currently in the Netherlands looking for both a long term foster and an adoptive home.
Myrtle was found as 5-6 months old puppy together with her mom and 3 siblings on the streets of Turkey. She remained in a dog sanctuary without socialization or enrichment opportunities from June 2025 to March 2026 which is not ideal for a puppy growing up, but was their only chance for survival.
Myrtle arrived in the Netherlands to a foster home in March 2026 and unfortunately experienced this big change together with hip pain (she was hurt during flight). She has fully recovered after joint supplements and pain killers according to veterinarian recommendation.
She has since developed insecurity (previously she was very friendly with everyone in Turkey) which makes her anxious in crowded city centers while she enjoys quiet parks.
She easily accepts and bonds with women while men can be scary and even if she gets used to her male caregiver and enjoy cuddles with him, she may at the beginning bark/growl especially when startled by him. As such in a house where there is a couple, men should be the primary care giver to avoid her being too attached to the female caregiver and potentially resource guard her against her partner.
She also needs repeated introductions with strangers/guests in the home to get used to them. She protests (bark/growl). She has no bite history although she may look intimidating.
She is otherwise a dog who likes to have long walks in nature (very easy to walk on a leash - no pulling), cuddle on the couch during down time. She is very food driven when she is not anxious (indoors/in nature) and very clever and fast learning.
She is good with other dogs, respect their space. She is not very playful with other dogs and she is very recently learning how to play with toys or humans. She is not tested with cats.
What Myrtle needs most is a safe and quiet place with patient caregivers where she can finally decompress.
Shoulder height: 70cm
Weight : 32 kg
Please contact us (whatsapo preferred) if you can offer this beauty a forever home.

Toelichting
Myrtle traveled to the Netherlands after 4 months of procedures which is highly expensive. As such we ask for a 500 € as adoption fee to be able to continue rescuing new dogs.
