Bulut

Bulut’s story began in Nevşehir, Turkey, where she was found abandoned and completely alone. Her cropped ears and condition suggested she had spent her life as a livestock guardian dog and had likely been used for breeding. When she was no longer considered useful, she was simply left behind.

When Bulut arrived at a sanctuary near Ankara last autumn, she was heartbreakingly thin and in poor condition. She spent the following months recovering, slowly regaining her strength and confidence, before finally making the journey to the Netherlands at the end of May.

What has happened since has been nothing short of amazing.

Despite never having lived inside a home before, Bulut has embraced family life as though she had been waiting for it all along. She is calm, gentle, affectionate, and endlessly grateful for all the little things she never had before—regular meals, soft beds, cozy sofas, and above all, the love and attention of her people.

She absolutely loves being outdoors. Long walks through the beautiful green parks of the Netherlands are one of her favourite things. She enjoys meeting new people, happily accepts gentle affection from strangers, and loves spending time with other dogs.

For Bulut, many of these experiences are completely new. In Turkey, dogs like her are often misunderstood and kept at a distance, leaving little opportunity to enjoy positive interactions with people or other dogs. Now, she approaches life with quiet curiosity, soaking up every new adventure with remarkable confidence.

She has already taken city life in her stride, travelling on public transport, walking through busy streets, and even enjoying a boat trip as if she’d been doing it for years.

She even went on a camping trip with her foster home, traveling in a car, staying in a tent and seeing a whole new world! She didn’t cause any problems to the foster family just enjoyed the ride as if she was born for it!

After everything she has been through, Bulut is finally discovering what every dog deserves: love, safety, comfort, friendship, and the freedom to simply enjoy life.

Now there is just one thing missing—a family of her own.
