Meet Hugo – A Loyal and Playful German Spitz Looking for the Right Home

Hugo is an 8-year-old German Spitz with a big personality and a loving heart. He enjoys his daily walks, loves to play, and is always excited to see familiar people. He is healthy, active, and still has plenty of energy to enjoy adventures with his family.

Like many Spitz breeds, he is intelligent, alert, and forms strong bonds with the people he trusts. Once he gets to know you, he is affectionate, loyal, and enjoys being part of the family.

Hugo often becomes excited when meeting new people but may become nervous if someone reaches for him too quickly. When uncomfortable, he may growl to communicate that he needs more space. He is not a dog who enjoys being approached or handled by unfamiliar people right away and does best when allowed to approach new people at his own pace.

He also finds veterinary visits very stressful and can react defensively in those situations. Any future owner should be prepared to work with a veterinarian experienced in handling anxious dogs.

Hugo is not neutered and can be somewhat dominant with other male dogs. While he gets along well with many dogs, he is not compatible with every male dog he meets. Careful introductions and an understanding of dog behavior are important.

Because trust is important to him, he may take some time to warm up to new adults and children. For this reason, he would do best in a patient home that understands dog body language and is willing to let him settle in at his own speed.

As a German Spitz, he has a beautiful coat that requires regular care. His future family should be prepared to brush and groom him several times a week to keep his coat healthy, clean, and free of tangles.

His ideal home would be with experienced dog owners who appreciate his loyal nature and can provide structure, understanding, and a calm environment. In return, he will be a devoted companion who loves walks, playtime, and spending time with the people he trusts.
