Bagheera

How, after everything life has put him through, can he still be so incredibly gentle?

That’s Bagheera.

Bagheera came into rescue after being hit by a car, an accident that left him with dislocated hips. His little body had been through so much, but with time, rest and a whole lot of love, he healed. Today, he walks, jumps and enjoys life just like any other cat.

But his injuries did leave something behind.

As his body healed, his hips and colon narrowed slightly, which means his digestion needs a little extra help. And somehow, despite everything he has endured, Bagheera remains one of the softest, gentlest souls you could ever meet.

He loves walking alongside his humans, brushing against their legs as he follows them from room to room. He gives the sweetest headbutts, happily accepts being picked up and, when it’s time for bed, likes to bury his little head beneath the covers beside his foster.

He is affectionate, mellow and wonderfully easy-going. He has his playful moments, of course, but Bagheera isn’t looking for chaos or adventure. He mostly just wants to be wherever you are.

There is one promise his future family will need to make him.

Because of the narrowing caused by his old injuries, Bagheera currently eats Royal Canin Gastrointestinal food mixed with Duphalac twice a day, and his litter box needs to be monitored to make sure everything is moving as it should. No sneaky treats, no outdoor adventures and no helping himself to someone else’s dinner. What goes into Bagheera needs to be controlled because keeping to this simple routine is what keeps him comfortable and well.

With future veterinary review, there may even be a possibility of gradually reducing his high-fibre diet and stool softener, but that decision will always need to be made with a competent vet.

Written down, it sounds like a lot.

To Bagheera, it’s breakfast, dinner, a trip to the litter box and then getting back to the extremely important business of following his humans around and purring the second someone touches him.

He has already been through the hard part.

Now he just needs someone who can look beyond the words “special needs” and see the beautiful boy behind them. Someone who understands that a little extra care is a very small price to pay for a whole lot of Bagheera.

Bagheera can live alongside calm cats and would be happiest in a quiet or moderately active, adults-only home. He is strictly an indoor-only cat and is looking for his forever family in Bahrain, Belgium, France or the Netherlands.

For adoptions in the Europe, the adoption fee is €275, which helps cover part of Bagheera’s rescue and travel costs while supporting Rescat’s ongoing rescue and TNR work.
