Patates

Patates has already travelled a long way to find happiness. Now, all she needs is someone to call family.

This beautiful, affectionate large mixed-breed girl was rescued from a shelter in Turkey, where she lived under very difficult conditions. One of her shelter friends has already found a loving home in the Netherlands. We hope Patates will be just as lucky.

Currently in foster care in Hilversum, Patates is discovering how wonderful life in a home can be. She is gentle, friendly, good with children and gets along beautifully with other dogs.

But Patates has a sensitive side. Unfamiliar people and new environments can make her nervous, so she needs time, patience and a calm approach to build confidence.

There is one important part of her story we want to share openly.

About a week after arriving at her previous foster home, Patates slipped out of her harness during an evening walk and ran away. Thankfully, after several days of searching, she was found safe.

This experience showed us that her future family must take extra precautions outdoors, especially during the first weeks. An escape-proof harness, careful handling and patience are essential. She can still become frightened by strangers during walks, but with the right support, she can gradually feel more secure.

The good news? Patates is making wonderful progress!

She now lives with another dog in her foster home, and the difference is remarkable. Having a canine friend helps her relax and feel confident. We would therefore especially love to find her a home with a friendly, balanced dog.

Indoors, Patates is a wonderful companion. She is fully house-trained, settles comfortably and hasn’t shown destructive behaviour. Well, except for her funny little interest in chewing shoes! So perhaps keep your favourite pair somewhere safe.

She loves being close to her people and would happily share your sofa or bed. Her foster family even suspects she may have lived in a home before, although her past remains a mystery.

Patates builds strong bonds with people she trusts. She prefers company and doesn’t enjoy being left alone for long, particularly in unfamiliar surroundings. A family with plenty of time for her during the adjustment period would be ideal.

What kind of home are we looking for?

Patates needs a patient, loving family who understands rescue dogs and the responsibility of caring for a large, strong dog. Previous rescue experience would be a bonus.

A secure garden would be lovely, but isn’t essential. An apartment can also be a happy home with regular walks, attention and a stable routine.

After everything Patates has experienced, we want her next move to be her last. She deserves stability, understanding and people who won’t give up when things take time.

Ideally, her forever home would be in or around Hilversum or Haarlem. Her foster family has grown incredibly attached to her, and finding a home nearby would mean a lot to them.

Patates doesn’t need a perfect family. She needs people who will give her time to feel safe, accept her sensitive nature and love her for who she is.
