Mango

Mango was adopted in the Netherlands in February 2025, he was a street dog from Dubai and lived between a rescue center and foster family for his first 1.5 years. He is fully castrated, chipped, and vaccinated and owns a Dutch passport. He is approximately 3.5 years old, a medium mixed breed (from the sighthound family) and weighs 19kg. He is currently on sensitive digestion food which suits him best.

Unfortunately due to a recent separation, Mango is not getting the time and attention he needs to thrive. It breaks my heart to search for a new home for him, but he is much more often alone now than he should be. Mango is a true cuddle bug, he loves nothing better than to be on the couch snuggled up next to his humans. He loves meeting new people and will happily sit and be endlessly stroked by whoever is offering. He spends most of his day sleeping and occassionally playing with his favourite people and toys. He loves his daily walk in the woods or by the sea. He is good with home-alone time and can be left for several hours quite happily. He has a very sweet and goofy character that will endlessly make you laugh. He grew up in his foster home with a toddler and loves children but doesn't have experience living with young kids in his current home, so would suggest he could be rehomed with children over the age of 12 (who also better understand space boundaries and dog body language).

Mango is looking for quite a specific home. He is dog reactive, especially on leash. He has been to professional training and my partner and I spent the last 1.5 years continuing his positivity & neutrality training around other dogs, but his reactivity can still appear with some dogs/situations. While he is often walked by his weekday sitters with other dogs or as part of a pack, and loves to play with his dog best friends, he still has quite a serious fear-based reactivity. To avoid any surprises or being overwhelmed by his reactivity, any home for him would need to have experience with this.

That being said, Mango is looking for a home outside of the city, where he will be able to relax with his humans at home without being bothered by constant outside noise and foot traffic. Somewhere with a large enough garden where he can sunbathe, run around and play. While he manages well living in the city here, he would be much better suited to somewhere with plenty of open space for long walks (and spending the rest of the day curled up asleep).

Mango has a very loving home with me at the moment, so if you don't think you can offer the specific home he needs, please don't consider an application. While he comes with some flaws (inherent in most rescue animals), Mango is a truly wonderful dog who wins over the hearts of everyone he meets. I've been as truthful as I can in laying out his issues to ensure he finds the right place to land and someone who understands his unique needs.
